Album-Almanac "Macedonia", published in Sofia in 1931, is an extensive historical and photo-documentary work. Created by a committee of Macedonian teachers, public figures, and activists from the Internal Macedonian Revolutionary Organization (IMRO), the book was an illustrated contribution to the history of the Macedonians, portrayed as Bulgarians.
The book's main goals were to document the history and current situation of Macedonia, asserting its Bulgarian ethnic character and advocating for its autonomy. It was based on three principles: including all Macedonian nationalities, affirming that Macedonia is a "Bulgarian land", and fostering unity among the Macedonian diaspora.
Containing over 1,000 pages and approximately 3,500 photographs, the work was supported by prominent Bulgarian and foreign intellectuals, including historians, scientists, and artists. The book was later forbidden, with copies confiscated and destroyed in both Bulgaria and the Socialist Republic of Macedonia between 1944 and 1989.
