Lazaros Mellios' book, "Lerin Folklore: Festivals Vol. 1," published in 1976, is a comprehensive documentation of the folklore and festivals of the Lerin (Florina) region. As a teacher, Mellios aimed to preserve these local traditions, which he noted were at risk of being forgotten.

The book details various celebrations, with a particular focus on festivals such as May Day (Πρωτομαγιά), where people gather flowers and make wreaths, and Meromínia (Μοροείνι), a tradition of weather prediction.

It also covers religious feast days like the Transfiguration of the Savior, a day of feasting on fish, and the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. Other customs included are the masquerades during corn harvesting and the tradition of newlyweds visiting relatives, ensuring these rich traditions are passed on to future generations.
