Encyclopedia of the Villages in the Republic of Macedonia: Geographical, Demographic and Agrarian Characteristics (Енциклопедија на селата во Република Македонија: географски, демографски, и аграрни обележја) is a one-volume, alphabetically arranged reference to every rural settlement (village) in the Republic of Macedonia as it stood in the 1990s.
Each entry follows a tight template that profiles a village’s geographical setting, demographic trajectory, and agrarian characteristics. The entries are concise, data-dense, and standardized, making the book usable as a lookup tool as well as a comparative snapshot of Macedonia’s rural landscape.
Panov’s encyclopedia became the standard quick reference for scholars, planners, and local historians working on settlement geography and rural change in Macedonia, frequently cited for baseline, pre-2002-census village facts and for consistent geo-demographic framing across the entire country.
