One Idea, One Life by Georgi Sotirov Dukimov is a memoir dedicated to the first Macedonian political trial in the Pirin region of Macedonia. The book follows the author’s personal journey, from his childhood in Gorna Dzhumaya (Goce Delchev) to his involvement in the Macedonian movement and the consequences that followed.
Particular attention is given to the organization of Macedonian youth circles, the formation of clandestine groups, and the spread of the idea of an independent Macedonia under conditions of surveillance and repression. The author recounts concrete events: secret meetings, preparation of materials, arrests, and trials, along with harsh prison conditions. On pages 20–22, the trial itself is described, where the accused openly declare themselves as Macedonians and defend their cause without compromise, accepting prison sentences.
In its final part, the work expands into a broader historical and ideological reflection on national consciousness, sacrifice, and the continuity of the Macedonian idea. The book holds value as a firsthand testimony of political repression in Pirin Macedonia after World War II, offering important material for studying identity, resistance, and state control in that period.
