The Macedonian Scientific Institute was founded on 21 December 1923 in Sofia, Bulgaria. Its main purpose is to study and promote the idea that Macedonia and the Macedonian people are Bulgarian in character. The Institute has received support from the Bulgarian state. Since 1925, it has published the journal "Macedonian Review", focusing on the history, culture, and demographics of Macedonia from a Bulgarian perspective.
