Women of Kostur: Contribution to the Study of Folklore from the Kostur Region by Dr. Stojan Risteski is a study dedicated to the cultural-educational group “Kosturchanki” and, more broadly, to the folklore of the Kostur region. The work traces the formation and development of the group, which emerged during World War II as part of the resistance and cultural expression of Macedonians in Aegean Macedonia.
Particular attention is given to the role of women in preserving Macedonian folk songs, dances, and customs. The author shows how, through cultural activities, performances, and collection of folk material, the group helped sustain national consciousness and tradition even in difficult historical conditions.
The book holds strong documentary and research value and serves as an important source for studying Macedonian folklore in the Kostur region. It provides insights into the organization, members, and activities of the group, along with broader context on the cultural life of Macedonians in Aegean Macedonia.
